Floats Swim
What if i can't swim and i have to for gym class? What do I do?

Don't say just turn in a note because my gym teacher is making me do it. What do I wear since I can't swim, floating devices, what? WIll she grade me differently since I can't swim? I just want to cry I am so nervous everyone will think I am such a loser, I can't swim. I don't want to be embarassed, please help. I feel so nervous and embarassed, i want to just sob.

You have no idea how lucky you are. Where I live, there's not a school in the entire county that has a pool. If there's any indoor pools at all in this county, they're privately owned. There's no motel, gym, or any public facility with an indoor pool.

As an adult, the one thing that I would love to be able to do is learn to swim. Last summer I went to sign up for swimming lessons, but all the classes were for kids. You have an opportunity to learn something that will last you a lifetime. School is for learning, and if your school has a pool, then it should be up to the school system to teach you. Hey, I have a college degree, but that doesn't stop me from being overweight and out of shape. I would love to be in you position. So what if it's embarrassing. Everyone has embarrassing moments, but you can learn from them.

As for your "teacher", if she treats you differently, then she's not doing her job. If she's not teaching, then maybe the school system can find someone else who can.

For those who own an above ground pool you'll have to keep a listing of the pool supplies. It's because of this reason that many people build a housing for the pool pump or use the backyard shed as a pool supply storage house.

Cold weather - the pool needs to be drained when the weather gets colder. This is to prevent freezing and expansion of stagnant water inside the pool from cracking or damaging the sides. It's not essential to completely dismantle it, but a pool cover is vital to keep out snow, rain and assorted debris.

To keep the larger debris, leaves twigs and bugs out of the pool water, remember to check your filter. There is a choice of sand, cartridge or diatomaceous earth filters. Cartridge filters tend to allow for easier maintenance whereas sand filters have to be cleared periodically. Whichever type you select, the small size of the pool means that you won't have replace them as often as you would with in-ground pools. You'll pay less for filter maintenance.

Chemicals - chlorine is anti-bacterial and neutralizes other destructive elements in the water. Regular, judicious use of pool cleaning chemicals ensures that swimming will always be a pleasant experience. Only a small amount of these chemicals is necessary at a time. They're generally easy on the pocket too, which adds to the cost-effectiveness of owning an above ground pool.

To keep your pool working at the proper water standards, make sure to get all the ground pool supplies and chemicals you will need for the season. Some may wonder what standards we're referring to. This is done through chemicals and making sure the pool water is chemically well balanced. You can test your pool with test strips which can be found with a lot of the swimming pool products at your neighborhood supply store. Above ground pool supplies are low-priced and really do save you a whole lot of headaches.

Water balancers, algaecides, shock treatments, bromine and chlorine are the chemicals needed to maintain the health of your pool water. Each of these perform a different task in your water make it safe for swimming. For instance, chlorine combines with the bacteria in your pool's water to kill it. Once it has combined with the bacteria, the chlorine is rendered inactive. Depending on the amount of bacteria in your pool, it can cause an imbalance in several of the elements that is important to make it safe to swim in.

Owning an above ground swimming pool does take some work and effort to maintain. Replacement supplies are available at many local retailers and could make recreation time at the home a lot more satisfying. Pool supplies cover a large area including chemicals, equipment and accessories. You can cut your costs by ensuring that your pool is up to standards and by making sure your equipment is in good working condition before opening up for the season.

Be sure to keep pets and children away from your chemical supply by locking the material securely away. These chemicals may be good for the water but it is hazardous to human beings.

You can even want to have a ready supply of any filter replacements so changing them is simple and convenient. Needless to say, not as important but just as necessary are pool supplies such as floats and other water toys and games. What works great for storing these items is a piece of netting that can be hung on the side of a fence.
