HI...I've been doing them for years, I like deep water better, but there's MUSIC and there's exercise, but it doesn't seem so much like exercise in the water..you run, cross country ski, do boxing, some dance, jumping jacks and all sorts of different things to get your heart rate up using the resistance of the water (sort of like using light weights) It's fun and you should try it!

People who exercise not only feel better about themselves, but they live longer and enjoy better health. Exercise can help you maintain a healthy weight. It can delay or prevent diabetes, some cancers, and heart problems. The key is to find the right exercise for you. If it is fun, you are more likely to stay motivated. You may want to walk with a friend, dance around your house, run up and down the stairs, take your kids to the park and play with them, join a gym and participate in a class, or plan a group activity because it is always easier to work out with friends. If you have been inactive for awhile, be smart and start out slowly.

Do a simple warm up to prepare your muscles for the activity you have planned. Walking in place, doing lunges with arm raises helps to warm up your major muscle groups and prevent injury.

Take time to stretch after the warm up, and don't forget to do stretching exercises after your aerobic workout to keep your muscles limber and to decrease discomfort.

Healthy adults should engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity every week or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity every week. Which activity you choose would depend on your current activity level and your health and fitness goals.

Moderate-intensity aerobic activity means you're working hard enough to raise your heart rate and break a sweat. You should be able to talk but not sing the words to your favorite song. Some examples of activities requiring moderate effort are:

Vigorous-intensity aerobic activity means you're breathing hard and fast, and your heart rate increases. If you're working at this level, you won't be able to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath. Listed below are some examples of activities that require vigorous effort:

A rule of thumb is that one minute of vigorous activity is about the same as two minutes of moderate activity. Some people like vigorous types of activity because it gives them about the same health benefits in half the time. You need to feel comfortable doing moderate-intensity activities before you move on to more vigorous ones. If you haven't been very active lately, increase your activity level slowly.

Muscle strengthening activity should be added two to three times a week to add lean muscle and tone your body. Adding strength training is also good for your bones and helps to keep them strong and prevent age related bone loss. Weight training should include activities for all major muscle groups and can be alternated for variety and to give the muscle groups a rest.

In addition to working out vigorously or moderately it is very important to keep hydrated. Drinking adequate water can help flush your system and eliminate impurities and muscle wastes from the workout. Water contributes several health benefits and can prevent headaches and reduce muscle aches related to your exercise routines.

When you work out, especially when it comes to weight training it is important to give your body extra protein to help your muscles repair themselves. Protein is one of the nutrients that your body can't produce without breaking down muscle to get it. If you work out at a high level and neglect your protein intake you can cause more harm than good to your muscles and cause weakness instead of increasing your strength. Consider that most animal proteins are also high in fat. Plant proteins are incomplete. You must combine them to get all of the amino acids your body needs. Whey protein is a healthy option and can be mixed with your water or other beverages to give you that boost you may need. Consuming protein in this form may also help to reduce your cravings and help you to feel full longer which will also help contribute to your thin and trim waistline.

Choose an activity plan that works for you, including muscle training, and be sure to add in extra water and protein and make your way to a healthy lifestyle.

First and foremost, stretch! The importance of stretching to maintaining a healthy lifestyle that is conducive to losing weight cannot be emphasized enough. Stretching has a multitude of benefits. NO I WON'T HELP YOU TO LIE. If you don't realize it, you should be ashamed of yourself for asking others to help you to lie. And, if you don't realize that little tidbit, you should be even more ashamed as you have no integrity. Sick and tired of the same old triathlon workout? Its easy to get non creative and go with whats familiar. However it can get boring and stagnate your performance. Here are 5 triathlon workout ideas you can do to switch it up and keep it fun from the guys at Rock Star Triatlon Academy.

1. Swim/Spin Brick Another great pool and indoor-based session. This works very well for a time trial swim in which you're going to swim at maximum sustainable pace for 20-30 minutes. Schedule your swim to end just 5 minutes before the spin class at a gym. Hop in the water and go. After a quick 5 minute transition, race to the spin class and take whatever the instructor happens to throw at you. This is a great "fun" early or winter season triathlon workout for you cold birds.

2. Cartlek Run That's right, I didn't mis-spell Fartlek, that term that refers to random speed training. Cartlek is your trafficked road version. Here's how it works: Settle into an aerobic pace, at about 55-65% intensity. Every time a car passes you *from behind*, you must pick up the pace to a comfortable but fast run at about 85% for 100 steps.If a "string" of cars passes, then you begin your 85% stride after the last car goes by. If a car passes you during those 100 steps, you pick up the pace to maximum 100% for however many steps you have left. Once you're done with the 100 step stride, you can settle in until the next car approaches. This triathlon workout is basically Fartlek training with an unpredictable twist, and is good when you don't have a group to run with to do the pace-changing. Have fun (it works best on roads that aren't *too* heavily trafficked).

3. Standing Flats Here's a fun and simple triathlon workout that builds hip flexor strength and low back endurance. Go on a bike ride, but at one point during that bike ride (that's right, it only takes once), stand for as long as possible on the longest stretch of flat road you can find. If you can make it 2 minutes, you're pretty good. 5 minutes is tough. 10 minutes would qualify you as a rock star triathlete!

4. Indoor TV-Watching Fartleks Back to another fartlek workout, this time on the treadmill and indoors. Hop onto the belt and turn on your favorite sports game, movie, or TV show. Folks, this is a pretty simple one: easy aerobic run while your program is playing, following by an all-out sprint during the commercials. During the average Super Bowl style football game, you'll find yourself completely exhausted if you can make it 30 minutes in this triathlon workout.

5. Aqua Bursts This run sprint workout will allow you to truly achieve maximum running speed form with a low risk of injury. Find one of those flotation belts at the pool. If you don't have one, go to Swim Outlet or some other online source. Once you're wearing the flotation belt, hop into the pool start aqua jogging as soon as the water is too deep to touch. Lean forward and drive from the hips. For a 25m pool, about halfway down, stop. This is going to be your starting point for this run workout. Giving yourself a highly motivated "Ready, Set, Go!" and burst sprint as hard as possible to the wall 12.5 meters away (running, not swimming), then jog back to your starting point for recovery. The idea behind sprinting is that quick bursts can improve endurance just as much as the long slogs.

I know this is a lot, so just to start I would say buy the DVD set about BUD/S, any one of the Stew Smith books, and "The Warrior Elite" by Dick Couch.

EDIT: A lot of the people who answered before me are WRONG. It does not take 4-7 years to become a SEAL, it takes about 1 year, if you have what it takes. You do not have to have any prior experience or service to become a SEAL. You just have to get into the training, and then pass it. And no, you do not become a SEAL in boot camp, you become a sailor. You become a SEAL after that.

The special force of the Australian military is the Special Air Service Regiment, which is usually known as the SASR or SAS. This is a branch of the Australian army and is modeled after the British SAS. However, the SASR relies heavily upon Australian experience in World War II with regard to commando units and special reconnaissance. The SASR is considered to be a highly elite special forces unit and is based in Perth, Australia.

History Of The SASR

The SASR was established in July, 1957 and went on to get regimental status in 1964, at which time the SASR was firmly established. They first saw action during the Indonesia-Malaysia confrontation. They also participated in the Vietnam War, although they only lost two men through friendly fire. Another man went MIA when he was lost in the jungle. Despite that, they are said to have killed between 500 to 600 enemy combatants.

How To Become A Member Of The SASR

All male personnel of the armed forces, including enlisted men as well as officers can become a member of the SASR. Men are usually distinguished by superior officers to try to join this special forces unit and undergo the training. Those who endure the training become members of this special unit.

SASR Training

A candidate for the SASR has to undergo a three week selection course that is open to all male Australian personnel. They have to undergo psychological and medical suitability requirements for the job as well as make sure that they can meet the demands. Eighty percent will make this cut and then will go on to the entry test. Of these, 64 percent will go on to the three week course. About 25 percent of the applicants for the course will pass the SAS selection course. They then join a squadron as a junior trooper or troop commander where they serve two years and usually want to come back as a major.

Promotions are slow for those who are in the SAS but many of them stay in for life. A SASR trooper can earn up to $100,000 a year.

What Are They Best At?

The SASR has two roles. They are a reconnaissance team that will hold enemy territory in small patrols as well as provide information about enemy troops and their movements. The SASR does not generally engage with enemy units in this role. In addition to the reconnaissance role used in times of war there is also the counterterrorism and special recovery forces. The role they play in this area is to rescue hostages. There are two teams, TAG West that has some additional roles in rescue of hostages that include operations from outside Australian. In comparison, the TAG East team deals with all domestic terrorism cases.

The SASR has three sabre squadrons that are comprised of up to 100 of the best operators. In addition to the saber squadron, there is also the embedded squadron, the logistic support squadron and the operational support squadron. All of the regiments comprise of highly trained specialists who can provide support for all four of the different operations.

SASR are often broken down to small SASR patrols. Training is geared towards being "beret qualified" which means a pay raise. Beret qualified SAS are known as Blackhats because they wear dark blue berets.

Weapons Of The SASR

Basic weapons for the SASR for patrol are the M4 Carbine, with a grenade launcher as well as a F89 Minimi Para light machine gun. They also use a SR-25 rifle and the pistol used for the patrol is the Heckler and Koch USP. One third of the SASR members are qualified as snipers.

Known Missions

The SASR has been involved in missions in Iraq, Afghanistan and in Vietnam.

Units

There are several units of the SASR. They consist of three sabre squadrons. Of these, the Blackhats are considered to be the top trained of all of the members of this special forces team.

Are They Professional Soldiers?

The SASR is comprised of only professional soldiers. Enlisted men as well as officers can become members of this elite squad. All of the members of this special forces unit are considered to be professionals as this unit is not comprised of volunteers.

The other problem is that you will have to feed the kids a different meal every time or at least most of the time, for two reasons:

For most of us the eating plan is simply too expensive! The cost of the plan can easily run into the thousands of dollars not to even mention the snack bars that they suggest you buy.  The problem is that basically all the protein snacks you have to eat are their snack bars.  Now you have to eat two of those a day, that adds up to sixty a month. Can you imagine the cost if you and your partner are on this diet!

One of the biggest drawbacks in my eyes is the weight-ins. The LA weight loss system members are expected to weight in three times a week. Now that is way too many times! Weight fluctuates a lot from day to day and it is not a good thing to get so obsessive about it.

Your body holds water some days, even a little constipation or the other side diarrhea can have an influence. If you are up a few ounces on a weight in for whatever reason, you may get very despondent and even give up. Really once a week is enough, to be honest, I even think once a month is enough!

With the LA Weight Loss programs you are also expected to meet with a counselor every week as well.  It is true that if you follow the plan you will lose weight, including a very flat wallet! There really are other plan that are far less expensive. Many of these plans includes counseling as part of the membership benefits without extra costs.

You also have to be on the lookout for all the unnecessary extras on this diet. They also offer other weight loss options like Vitamin B12 shots.  It is true that vitamin B12 may aid in weight loss, but you can really lose all the weight you need to lose without it.  Of course the shots are not free and they suggest that you get them on a regular basis for them to work. 

The protein snack bars and shots are not necessary to lose weight.  It is true that eating lean cuts of meat, fruits, and vegetables in sensible portions will reduce your calorie intake and that will lead to weight loss.  What is a very big danger here, is the possibility that you may eat too few calories and your body will go into starvation mode. This will slow down your metabolism and make further weight loss very difficult. For this reason the LA Weight Loss System is not the best idea.
